Medieval castle Muiderslot.

Located in fortified town of Muiden, where the river Vecht flows into the former Southern Sea. This river was the main north-south route for more than a thousand years. Romans and Vikings, they all used it. Controlling the river was vital for the city of Utrecht, until the 15th century the most important town of the northern Netherlands, and main rival of Holland.
